Don Hepburn - Chair Youth Advisory Committee

It’s hard to believe that this is my fifth report as Chair of the Youth Advisory Committee. Where has the time gone?

The primary purpose of the Youth Advisory Committee is to support and assist our youth pastor with the youth ministry.

The Youth Advisory Committee met 6 times in 2007. I am thankful for the active and faithful participation of Craig Lowry, Julie Penner and Bonnie McRae during the year. Although Matt Johnston is a member of the committee, his schedule made it difficult for him to attend our meetings. His participation has been limited to arranging Chris’s volunteer activities at Birchcliff PS.

Bonnie McRae has been on the Youth Advisory Committee since it was established in January 2003 when our youth program was in a joint partnership with her church, St. Nicholas Anglican Church. Bonnie always hoped that her church would renew the partnership with our youth program but demographics at St. Nicholas make this unlikely in the near future. Consequently Bonnie has decided it’s time to leave the committee. Her commitment, encouragement and enthusiasm for youth work have been very much appreciated. She will be missed!

2008 will be an important year as we seek to increase our community presence for our youth program.

Finally, I want to thank Chris Lortie for his steady work with our youth and his leadership in encouraging their participation in the life of the church and Sunday school. A special thank you to Leona Lortie for her support of Chris and to Aaron and Christine Woodhouse for assisting Chris and Leona on Friday nights.
